See a Doctor with the Medgate App

Book a doctor's appointment, manage prescriptions, get advice on skin problems—the Medgate app is your digital doctor's office, available 24/7 and accepted by all health insurance providers.
It’s a situation we’ve all experienced at some point: An employee is starting to feel increasingly unwell at the office. The slight scratchy feeling in his throat develops into an uncomfortable sore throat as the morning goes on, and just before noon, a throbbing headache sets in. He wonders if he’s caught a summer cold and decides to go home. The next morning, the symptoms are worse, and the thermometer reads 38 degrees. He wants to call in sick and needs a doctor’s note—but going to a doctor’s office is out of the question. So what should he do?
Book a doctor's appointment online instead of sitting in the waiting room
At times like these, a digital doctor’s office is a huge help. With the Medgate app, medical consultations take place right on your smartphone. Instead of waiting on hold, the app shows the next available times for a callback from a doctor.
With just a few taps, our employee booked a consultation that’s scheduled to take place just an hour later. In the meantime, he calls in sick to his employer and puts on a large pot of tea.
Direct Access to Specialists and Skin Checks via Photo Upload
The Medgate app doesn’t just offer help with acute issues like the flu symptoms mentioned above. It also provides simple, low-threshold support for refills—such as for hay fever medication, asthma, migraines, or birth control pills. After filling out a questionnaire, the medical team provides feedback within 24 hours.
The app is particularly handy for skin problems. Instead of waiting weeks for an appointment, you simply upload photos of a rash or a suspicious spot and answer a few medical questions via text. A specialist evaluation is provided within 48 hours.
For non-urgent concerns, the app also offers direct access to telemedicine consultations with specialists in fields such as cardiology, gynecology, or for travel and vaccination advice.
E-prescriptions and referrals stored centrally
Immediately after their appointment with the doctor, patients can find all relevant information—such as a written summary of the consultation and related medical documents (e-prescriptions, referral letters, or sick leave certificates)—in the app. This information is available there at any time. This is convenient, for example, if you experience similar symptoms at a later time and want to review what the doctor recommended at the time and which medications were prescribed.
Get Healthy—Without Having to Leave Home
The sick employee has also been contacted by a Medgate doctor in the meantime. After a targeted telephone consultation, she diagnoses a viral respiratory infection. She recommends rest, prescribes medication to treat the symptoms, and issues a sick note for three days, which is available directly in the app. The man sends the certificate to his employer and finds the necessary fever-reducing medication in his home medicine cabinet. Without having to make a trip to a doctor’s office or the pharmacy, he recovers over the next three days.
The Medgate app is free; the costs of medical treatment are covered by all Swiss health insurance providers and billed according to the Tardoc rate. Since the employee is insured under a telemedicine plan offered by one of Medgate’s partner insurers, the telemedicine treatment is even completely free for him.
