Book a Medgate Doctor's Appointment
Once installed, the Medgate app is the easiest way to schedule a doctor’s appointment: You can see the next available appointments with our team of doctors and select a time slot that works for you. No more wasting time on hold, and you can see right away how soon our doctors can call you.
Request a Prescription
For medical conditions that can be easily assessed via telemedicine and for which a prescription medication is effective, you can fill out a questionnaire in the app. This allows our team of doctors to provide you with feedback within 24 hours on whether a medication can be prescribed and, if so, which one.
Emergency Call for Children
Medgate operates the emergency hotline for children and adolescents in collaboration with children's hospitals. If your child has an urgent medical concern and you don’t want to book a regular Medgate doctor’s appointment, you can use the emergency button for children to call Medgate directly from the app.
People Insured Through Telmed or Smartmed
Are you enrolled in an insurance plan that requires you to coordinate doctor's appointments through Medgate? If so, the Admin Chat is the most convenient way to do this. You can also easily clarify questions about previously scheduled time slots or invoices via chat.
Determine the Cause of a Skin Problem
Our dermatologists can assess abnormalities, itchy areas, or rashes via telemedicine if you fill out the corresponding questionnaire in the app. You upload photos of the affected area and receive an assessment by a physician within 48 hours.
Emergency Call for Adults
If you have an urgent medical concern and do not want to book a regular Medgate doctor's appointment, you can use the emergency button for adults to call the Medgate emergency team directly from the app.
View Reported Doctor's Visits
Does your insurance plan require you to notify Medgate—as your first point of contact—about visits to other healthcare providers? In the app, you can see all reported doctor visits at a glance.
Add Child Profiles

Register
Once installed, you can register in the Medgate app and enter your health insurance card number. Then you're ready for your digital doctor's visit.
Medical Consultation and Treatment
Once you’ve registered, you can book your doctor’s appointment with Medgate in the app. You’ll see the next available appointments and can select a time slot that works for you. No more wasting time on hold waiting for your turn with the telephone receptionist. During the subsequent consultation with the Medgate doctor, you can discuss your concerns in detail.

Costs
Telemedicine appointments with Medgate are billed through health insurance as part of statutory coverage (just like an in-person visit to a doctor’s office) and are recognized by all Swiss health insurers. During the day on weekdays, a teleconsultation costs an average of CHF 50. Surcharges apply at night between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., on weekends and holidays, and in emergencies.
In certain insurance plans offered by our partner health insurers, you may not even incur costs toward your deductible or copayment.
