Our Services for Medical Associations
We have the solution for a telephone-based emergency medical service that works even in the context of the growing shortage of primary care physicians. Costs are billed through health insurance based on the “polluter pays” principle—there are no operating costs for the medical associations.

Optimizing Emergency Care and Reducing Costs
Medgate operates emergency hotlines throughout Switzerland and is an integral part of the emergency care system in numerous cantons. Our telemedicine service not only fills a gap in care caused by the growing shortage of primary care physicians—thanks to our high rate of cases resolved over the phone, we also relieve the burden on cantonal emergency facilities and help reduce costs. Numerous medical associations already rely on Medgate as an integral part of their emergency care system—with a proven track record of reducing the burden on hospitals and family practice offices.
Available Around the Clock
In non-life-threatening emergencies, your patients can reach the Medgate medical team around the clock—at night, on weekends, and even on holidays. The call is charged at landline rates; the medical consultation is billed through basic health insurance under the TARDOC system.
Our Team of Doctors Treats
Thanks to our focus on physician-based telemedicine, we can resolve about half of all cases directly over the phone—rather than simply triaging them. Depending on the medical diagnosis, patients receive a digital e-prescription, a medica certificate, or a referral immediately following the consultation.
Reduce Costs Sustainably
Medgate’s emergency hotline not only spares patients the stressful trip to an emergency room in many cases—it also saves money: While a teleconsultation, including night and emergency surcharges, costs an average of 88 francs, a visit to the emergency room costs around 458 francs.
